This year we celebrate 10 years of offering Yoga Teacher Training in Tāmaki Makaurau!
To develop this Contemporary programme continues to be a deeply fulfilling experience both personally and professionally. To be a small part of our wonderful students lives and Yoga journeys is an honour and a blessing.
On each training we co-create a learning environment that has a clear educational model, one that is based on ethical, safe, accessible, individualised practice where everyone is seen and has a voice in the space. We honour and acknowledge the rich history of Yoga and weave in current research about the mind-body.
Originally founded by Karla Brodie and Neal Ghoshal, (along with past teachers Dyana Wells and Vincent Bolletta), what is so rewarding is that most of our faculty now consists of past graduates: Vanessa Bailey with marketing and communication, Raiha Maunsell with Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga, Sandra Palmer with her wisdom and experience about trauma sensitive practice, Sandy Farquhar with reflective practice and journaling (she’s also our administrator), the incomparable Haidee Stairmand, who leads the anatomy and physiology content. Sam Loe, our long time dear friend and colleague shares her deep knowledge about philosophy, tradition and self practice.
On specialist courses we welcome Tui Williams to our Restorative Yoga training who shares her knowledge of somatic experiencing and the nervous system and Keishana Coursey directs our in-depth pregnancy programme, with Ayurvedic practitioner Amy Massey.

Over the years we have also been blessed to have the support and mentoring of our teacher Donna Farhi.
Contemporary Yoga is a labour of love which has given us an opportunity to grow as humans, facilitators and educators. We are deeply grateful.
If you are a past graduate - thank you - much aroha!
If you are considering deepening your yoga practice or becoming a Yoga teacher feel welcome to reach out, our next training commences in January 2024.
Arohanui,
Karla, Neal and the whole Contemporary Yoga team
