Sandra and Michal will be offering Yoga practices as well as a focus on Touch

  • Our body needs to be reminded of its receptive nature all along.
  • Our hands are a powerful tool in guiding and enhancing softness and unfolding both as yoga practitioners and as yoga teachers.
  • It is our task to keep our hands awake as they are a precious gift given to us.
  • Only by trusting them will they stay alive and nourish our full-body awareness.

This is a rare opportunity to study with practitioners that have over 35 years experience in yoga and mind-body practices.

Sandra, a cultivated teacher was a long time student of Vanda Scaravelli, author of the wonderful and classic yoga book ‘Awakening the Spine’, and Michal is a student of Buddhism, and a Feldenkrais practitioner. Sandra and Michal have co-taught yoga retreats and workshops around the world. This is their first teaching visit to New Zealand.

Sandra Sabatini

Sandra Sabatini was born in Australia to Italian parents and started studying yoga when she was 34. She started studying with Dona Holman in B.K.S. Iyenger yoga, started teaching and then met Vanda Scaravelli and was her private student for the next 18 years.

Vanda, the author of “Awakening The Spine”, developed a unique approach to yoga using gravity and breath to ride the body’s own wave. Vanda’s life long friendship with Krishnamurti was vastly reflected in Vanda’s teaching.

“It is Vanda’s gift of yoga – a radical yoga that emphasizes working with breath, gravity and the spine – that I am trying to pass on through my books and my teaching”.

Today Sandra teaches individual sessions and groups in Europe, USA, Israel and India, as well as near my home in Tuscany, Italy.

Michal Havkin

Michal Havkin was born in Jerusalem and is a prominent Israeli yogi who also worked as a professional dancer for over 35 years.

After more than 30 years of dancing professionally and teaching Modern Dance in Israel and abroad, Michal met Sandra Sabatini and started studying Yoga. She found yoga practice to be very nutritious and enriching.

Michal has been studying and teaching together with Sandra Sabatini for the past 18 years.

Michal has been studying Buddhism and Feldenkrais technique for many years and has found a way to integrate these into her practice and teaching of yoga.

Today, Michal is teaching individual sessions and groups in Israel as well as guiding groups in Europe, USA and India.
